Letter from Monsignor Jim

Dear parents,

Almost five months later than scheduled, we are prepared to celebrate Confirmation on Friday 14th of August.  Six ceremonies at  11am,12pm, 1pm, 2pm 5pm and 6pm. Children from St. Colmcille’s NS will attend the first four ceremonies and children from St. Finian’s NS will attend the evening ceremonies. There will be no mass – simple  the Sacrament of Confirmation. Monsignor Jim will be celebrant. Each ceremony will last approximately 30 mins. 

In order to meet guidelines, numbers in St. Colmcille’s Church, Togher, need to be restricted. Each young person may be accompanied by their parents and a sponsor only. Parents may of course take the role of sponsor. That should comply with permitted numbers, all being well. When you arrive at the church, please wait in your car.  You will then be invited to enter the church and will be guided to your pew.  Each family will have their own pew in the centre aisle. When the Confirmandi are invited to come forward to be confirmed their parents and sponsors will come forward with them. They will then exit the church through the side aisle.

Sanitizing arrangements are in place in Togher Church and should be observed. Face coverings may be worn and Monsignor Jim will wear a visor/face shield in conferring the Sacrament. The sponsor, if not a parent, may wear a mask and the candidate him/herself need not.

While you may like to take photos afterwards, there should be no videos or photos during the ceremony please.

We hope to make this a very special day for our young people and our families – and the whole Parish of Togher.
